Why I Hate Barak Obama

Does this 'Title' alarm you? It sure did me when I was listening to Air 1 today on the radio and the DJ started talking about this Pastor in the Phoenix AZ area who titled his sermon 'Why I Hate Barak Obama' a few weeks ago. Pastor Steven Anderson mainly feels this way because Obama is a 'freedom of choice' when it comes abortion and is therefore a murder. This pastor even made comment (and continues to stand by them...) such as:

"I hope that God stribes Barack Obama with brain cancer so he can die like Ted Kennedy and I hop it happens today,"

He also said:

"I'm gonna pray that he dies and goes to hell when I go to bed tonight."

Fellow Christian this is SO bad and un-Biblical!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't believe this is happening or being said by a follower of Jesus!?!

As I was listening to all this today some verses from God's Word came to my mind.

"A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you,
so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another."
-John 13:34-35

"But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you"
Matthew 5:44

"You have heard that it was said to them of old time, You shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment:
but I say unto you, that every one who is angry with his brother shall be in danger of the judgment; and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council; and whosoever shall say, 'You fool!', shall be in danger of the hell of fire."
Matthew 5:21-22

"For God sent not the Son into the world to judge the world; but that the world should be saved through him."
John 3:17

"The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance."
2 Peter 3:9

"I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone - for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives inall godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth."
1 Timothy 2:1-4

"Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves."
Romans 13:1-2

"Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honorable, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things."
Philippians 4:8

So I hope we can agree that this vies of hating someone and wishing them to hell because you think they are evil is SO off base it's not even funny! That is if you are a true follower of Jesus....

What do you think? Did you hear about this?

Hope you found this helpful!
~Ben

P.S. Unfortunately as I searched for this story on the web I also found another pastor that gave the same sermon somewhere else. Is this 'hate' theme getting popular???

This is my first visit to your blog, and when I read the title of your post I was a little nervous because I'm tired of Christians blasting Obama. Although I don't agree with all of his politics, I want to support and pray for him as the leader God has given us. I can't believe someone actually gave that sermon - I wonder what his congregation thought? Thanks for presenting a Biblical perspective.
