Hyalophora cecropia

Today I was walking around the front of the house when I saw this giant Caterpillar!!! : ) Ruth's Mom later looked it up and found that is was called the Hyalophora cecropia (Robin Moth). This moth will have a wing span of 75 mm or larger! The moth is one of the largest moths found in North America. It is a member of the giant silk moth family. It is found as far west as the Rocky Mountains and north into the maritime provinces of Canada.
